What is a Climate Resilient Water Program?

FOR is launching a comprehensive Climate Resilient Water Program, to make sure healthy rivers are seen as a critical piece of a climate resilient California.

California is at a cross-roads for water. Many are advocating for more dams and reservoirs with misinformation and fearmongering. We know that through conservation and good management, we will have enough water to mitigate the worst impacts of the climate crisis and support a healthy environment for all Californians, while protecting our rivers.

The Climate Resilient Water Program will focus the strengths of FOR and our community through a set of clear outcomes.

How will we do it together?

Strengthen River Protections: Expand the State Wild and Scenic Act through a statewide advocacy initiative push in 2022-2023 so it can be a critical part of the State’s 30×30 climate initiative.

Improve Access to River Education and Recreation: Train Climate Water Advocates from disadvantaged communities to demonstrate the connection between access to clean water and healthy rivers, because education and equity are key to effective activism.

Take Legal Action for Rivers: Support FOR’s ongoing and impending litigation to defend and protect California’s existing Wild and Scenic rivers threatened by non-resilient climate solutions.

Please join together and help support the Climate Resilient Water Program now, and continue the fight for our wild, scenic, and healthy rivers.
