Why does it take a bus to save a river?
Because that's where we'll reach the people who can help save the river...
After our resounding success of gaining global media attention for the Klamath, we're ready to take the next step toward saving the Klamath.
As you know the Klamath River is dying because of four dams owned by Oregon-based utility PacifiCorp. But based on polling that we've done with PacifiCorp ratepayers, a large majority of the ratepayers want to see the Klamath restored through dam removal, even if it raises their utility bills! Now it is time to mobilize them.
We're going to take this campaign to the streets of Portland to make sure that tens of thousands of PacifiCorp ratepayers know that they need to tell PacifiCorp what they told us: that the Klamath Dams need to be removed.
With your help we can put ads on buses throughout the Portland area to create a groundswell of public demand on PacifiCorp. Dollar for dollar these ads are the best possible investment we can make in raising awareness about the Klamath.
What's more is that donating online doubles the benefit to Friends of the River. An anonymous donor who is really invested in helping us cut down on paper waste and reducing overhead costs is willing to match any donation made online up to $5000. So instead of wasting a stamp, you can donate right now.
You can even send your activist letter to CalPers Chief Investment Officer Russell Read online after donating through our new online activism center.
The future of the Klamath rests in our hands and we need to take every opportunity to build the momentum even more. And with your donation and action we most certainly can.
