I grew up in Berkeley, CA, and was lucky to spend summers as a teenager at a family friend’s cabin near the Stanislaus River. That was my first intimate experience with a mountain river, and it stole my heart. I have worked for most of the last forty years as a musician, and always book at least one, and often two, river rafting trips (with music) per year.
I have seen first-hand the degradation of waterways and the watershed by water diversion and severe drought over the last quarter-century, particularly on the Tuolumne River. I feel it is past time for me to be able to stand up and speak knowledgeably about water issues in California, and the RATS program seems to be the best way to get started.
