Taking care of the land you live in is an important aspect of my persona. I was inspired to apply to Friends of the River RATS program in order to gain skills in community outreach and have a better understanding on how an event is successfully planned. Aside from the outreach guidance, I hope to obtain a more wide perspective on environmental outreach and techniques on how to draw the public to environmental related issues. This will contribute to my line of work as stronger outreach skills will further make aware of tribal natural resources concerns to the surrounding community. Having done outreach before with drought related issues will add to my success in the program as well as my career. Coming from the south San Joaquin Valley made me aware that water related topics not only concern cities and agriculture, but also those regions with little representation such as rural areas and tribes.
