State Legislation We're Watching

Senate Bill 848 (Wolk, DeSaulnier, Hancock, Steinberg and Bonilla) Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality, and Water Supply Act of 2014

SB 848 is a $6.8 billion water bond that would spend money on drinking water safety, regional water supples, restoring the San Joaquin River Delta, watersheds, urban rivers and state park water quality, and on water storage.

Senate Bill 927 (Cannella, Vidak) Safe, Clean, and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2014

SB 927 is a $9.2 billion water bond that is similar to SB 2, the existing water bond.  It is less expensive because it spends less money on drought relief and water supply reliability projects.  In addition, it spends no money on environmental protection.

Senate Bill 1086 (De Leon) The Safe Neighborhood Parks, Rivers, and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2014

SB 1086 is a bond that would spend an unspecified amount of money on restoration and expansion of state parks, watersheds, water quality and wildlife.  It would also protect beaches and forests.

Assembly Bill 1331 (Rendon, Alejo, Quirk-Silva, Calderon, Chau, Stone, Yamada) Clean, Safe and Reliable Drinking Water Act of 2014

AB 1331 is an $8 billion water bond that would spend money on water quality, environmental protection, climate change response, restoring the San Joaquin River Delta and on water storage.

Assembly Bill 1506 (Perea) An Act to add Section 32527.5 to the Public Resources Code, Relating to the San Joaquin River Conservancy

AB 1506 would allow the San Joaquin River Conservancy to fine violators of posted regulations a maximum of $250.  Currently the Conservancy is not authorized to inflict penalties on violators.
