Raft with Two Whitewater Legends: 2 Day East Fork Carson River Trip with John Yost and Jim Slade for 10 people!

John Yost, founder of Sobek Expeditions, was involved in most of the great first descents of the '70s and '80s, including the Zambezi, the Indus, the Euphrates and the Yangtze.  He's paddled virtually every commercially rafted river in the world. Jim Slade ..."has probably logged more exploratory miles than any human alive..a legend in whitewater rafting," says Paddler Magazine.  This trip is an extraordinary opportunity to raft with two of the giants of whitewater boating.

The trip is a two day Class II float through the magnificent high desert country and low canyons of the east side of the Sierras.  It is suitable for beginners, families with young kids, etc. The season lasts from late May to mid-to-late June each year, as the river runs purely on snow melt (no dam reservoir to feed it through the long summer dryness), so the window is narrow but usually includes Memorial Day and the weekend after schools let out.

All boating gear and meals will be provided. You and upto 9 Guests need only bring their tent, sleeping stuff and clothing. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Value: Priceless          Donated by: John Yost

A long weekend (4 days/3 nights) at a cabin at Serene Lakes on Donner Summit for up to 10

Relax for a long weekend (or mid week) in the Sierras.  Our 3 bedroom + loft + bonus room, 2 bath Serene Lakes cabin is on a very quiet street near the north end of the lakes.  It sleeps up to 10 (one in the loft and 2 in the bonus room) and has a two car garage (end to end one large + one medium car).  Serene Lakes is at 7000’ elevation in Soda Springs off the old Donner Pass road, near the Royal Gorge Ski Area.

The cabin has two decks and is fully equipped (we live there full time in the winter) including BBQ.

There’s never a shortage of things to do: In late spring, summer and fall there is hiking (much right out the door, or a 10 minute drive to PCT and other trail heads), mountain biking (Hole in the Ground, plus many other trails), swimming, paddling, rock climbing at Donner Summit, sailing, etc.  Eat in, or if Ice Lakes Lodge is open walk a mile to the lodge.  Other dining options are in Truckee, a 15 minute drive. Available mid-June through Thanksgiving 2012.

A matted "Tuolumne River & Meadows" scenic photograph #2 of 250 by Jennifer Wu

The Tuolumne River reflecting the mountains on a calm morning in Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park, California.. "I photographed this same scene the week before when watching the weather for a storm but did not get the weather I was hoping for. This time, I woke up in the morning to see frost and the first dusting of snow for the season."  Jennifer Wu.

True to her objective, Jennifer Wu's photographs "evoke a mood or a chord of recognition or even a sense of longing with the viewer.  Some may sense tranquility and peacefulness or perhaps powerful and vivid qualities which lead the viewer to make discoveries, drawing them to explore the next image. These dramatic landscapes are at the edge of the light of night and day as I search for exquisite and unique places."

Named by Canon USA to the elite group of photographers, The Explorers of Light, Jennifer is especially proud that Canon publishes her spectacular sky photographs in their professional camera brochures.
