Senate Bills 103, 104, Assembly Bills 79, 80 (Gov. Brown, Steinberg, Pérez) Emergency Drought Legislation

Summary: These four bills amend the State budget to provide $687.4 million to support drought relief.  These bills will spend money for the following purposes:


  • $549 million for water reliability projects
  • $20 million for improving water use efficiency, reducing energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • $14 million for groundwater management
  • $10 million for efficient irrigation systems
  • $10 million for regional water efficiency projects
  • $15 million for emergency drinking water
  • $13 million for conservation corps water use efficiency and fire prevention


Status/History: The legislation was signed by the Governor on March 1, 2014

The legislation was passed by the Senate and Assembly on February 27, 2014

The legislation was introduced on February 19, 2014
