Bill Text: http://leginfo.ca.gov/pub/13-14/bill/asm/ab_2551-2600/ab_2554_bill_20140423_amended_asm_v97.pdf

Summary: Existing law mandates that the voters be submitted an $11.1 billion water bond bill at the November 4, 2014 general election.  AB 2554 replaces that bill with a $8.5 billion water bond proposal.  If approved by the voters, AB 2554 would spend money for the following purposes:

  • $1 billion on clean water and water quality projects
  • $1.5 billion on multi-benefit ecosystem and watershed protection and restoration
  • $2 billion on climate change response and regional water security
  • $1 billion on restoring the San Joaquin River Delta
  • $3 billion on water storage (continuously appropriated)
