Assembly Bill 2043 (Bigelow, Conway, Achadjian, Dahle, Hagman, Jones, Linder, Morrell, Patterson, Wagner, Wilk) Safe, Clean and Reliable Water Supply Act

Bill Text: http://leginfo.ca.gov/pub/13-14/bill/asm/ab_2001-2050/ab_2043_bill_20140519_amended_asm_v98.pdf

Summary: Existing law mandates that the voters be submitted an $11.1 billion water bond bill at the November 4, 2014 general election.  AB 2043 replaces that bill with a $8.03 billion water bond proposal.  If approved by the voters, AB 2043 would spend money for the following purposes:

  • $495 million on water conservation, groundwater cleanup, water conveyance and emergency water projects
  • $840 million on water supply reliability projects
  • $1.5 billion on sustaining the San Joaquin River Delta
  • $3 billion on water storage (continuously appropriated)
  • $800 million on groundwater protection projects
  • $1 billion on water recycling, conservation and efficiency projects
