FOR Letters to Congress
October 8, 2015 s1894 – California Emergency Drought Relief Act of 2015: OPPOSE: Friends of the River has carefully reviewed S. 1894. We appreciate your intent to draft consensus legislation that attempts to alleviate the effects of the drought on California. We support provisions in the bill that authorize federal funding for water recycling, agricultural water conservation, groundwater recharge, urban storm water capture, and other innovative projects.
July 7, 2015: letter to the California Congressional Delegation regarding HR 2898:The undersigned conservation and recreation organizations, outdoor businesses, and Native American Tribes urge you to reject Rep. Valadao's H.R. 2898. Under the guise of water and food "security," H.R. 2898 proposes to maximize water exports, and weaken regulations protecting threatened and endangered fish and wildlife in California.
March 11, 2014: Letter to the California Congressional Delegation regarding 3189: We write to ask you to oppose HR 3189. This measure would, among other effects, prevent the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture from requiring conditions on water diversions on Federal lands to protect fish and wildlife, as well as recreational opportunities for our citizens.
Nov 13, 2013: Letter to Congressman Jared Huffman regarding HR 3189: We write to ask you to oppose HR 3189. This measure would prevent the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture from requiring conditions on water diversions on Federal lands to protect fish and wildlife.
